Prospective buyers will want to know if it needs realignment, pads or adjustments. They will also want to know how old it is and if it has any scratches or dings. Another factor, although not quite as important, is whether or not there is any gold plating wearing off.
These factors are usually the main factors that will determine whether a saxophone will sell right away, or possibly keep it from being sold. Original papers are not necessary for valuation, but a mouthpiece, a nice case, ligature, a neck strap, cap and swab are always an added bonus to get a quick sale. A good Conn Alto Saxophone, regardless of model, should sell for anywhere up to around $600.00 if is in good condition.
